Here Is What You Should Know About Tooth Erosion

Tooth erosion weakens the enamel on your teeth, exposing your teeth to the horrors of bacteria, infections, and cavities. If the enamel is ever damaged, it can not be repaired; the damage will stay, and your teeth will become vulnerable; meaning you will need regular treatment and regular visits to the dentist.

Your enamel is the only thing keeping your teeth safe, and tooth erosion can weaken the enamel. So if you do not take preventative care to stop tooth erosion, it may lead to the decay of the tooth. If you don’t take action right now, there may not be much to do afterward.

The first signs of tooth erosion are tooth pain while having sweets and the teeth looking yellow because the dentin is now exposed. Eventually, you will not be able to have anything hot or cold without feeling sensitivity. That is when the tooth erosion has reached advanced stages. When the decay penetrates the tooth and reaches the nerves, your teeth will be in danger of infections.

Having soft drinks, lots of sugar in your diet, a dry mouth, or drinking fruit drinks are common reasons for tooth erosion. Those suffering from acidity may also be in danger of tooth erosion. Carbonated drinks are acidic. Even fresh fruit, juices, wine, and sports drinks are dangerous for your enamel. When the acid level rises, the PH level in the mouth falls, leading to tooth erosion.

If you want to have such drinks; use a straw so that the teeth are not affected. To avoid enamel erosion, protect your teeth by brushing and flossing your teeth twice a day with fluoride toothpaste, and begin drinking milk at least one glass a day, and visit your dentist regularly.
